Betwixt is a celebration of emerging artistic practices across the UK, taking place across four sites in central and north London. It brings together works by 20 artists from Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Sheffield in a vibrant week-long event. Four distinctive cultural spaces and venues each host a group exhibition focused on a unique theme: inching towards, beneath, beyond and held.

Freelands Foundation in Chalk Farm hosts inching towards, showcase of artists with long-term research-based practices that navigate information, translation and the archive. The exhibition emphasises work made in close dialogue with communities, amplifying collective voices essential to the urgent conversations of our time.

beneath is a subterranean exhibition nestled in The Crypt Gallery at St. Pancras Church in Euston. Here, artists delve into the enigmatic, embracing the unknown as sites of resistance. beneath emerges from the shadows, a portal opening toward reimagined futures.

In the iridescent nave of Fitzrovia Chapel, beyond beckons viewers into the realm of the ancestors. Music, folklore, and sublime experiences in nature intersect with material histories of colonial violence and collective healing.

Mimosa House in Holborn is occupied by artists whose work explores dialogue between intergenerational women and queer artists. held is an exhibition that explores matrilineal memory alongside domestic or emotional interiors.

This constellation of exhibitions falls within a 1.5-mile radius and will be activated by screening programme, special performances and workshops. A new publication Betwixt 2024 includes new writing on all artists featured in the project.
